Here's a little heads up for fall athletes and parents!

We are delighted to introduce Travis Armstrong in his new position as Blue Earth Area Activities Director & High School Dean of Students! We kindly ask for your warmest welcome in his new position as he continues to contribute to our school community. Let's come together to support him in his exciting journey ahead.
A note from Mr. Armstrong:
Beginning in the fall of 2023, I will be the Activities Director/Dean of Students at the high school. For the last 27 years, I have been in the classroom teaching biology and other science classes. In 1996 I began my teaching and coaching career in Chatfield, Minnesota, upon my graduation from what was then Mankato State University. After one year, I returned to school at MSU to further my education and coach college football at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. In the fall of 1999, the teaching position at Blue Earth Area opened up, facilitating my return home to teach and coach at BEA.
Besides working with students and athletes, I like to spend as much time as I can playing golf and being with my family. My wife and I have two wonderful daughters that bring us great joy. Watching them grow up and become adults has been satisfying, and we can’t wait to see where life takes them.
Research has shown that participation in high school activities has many positive outcomes. Participation improves attendance and academic achievement, as well as improves students’ social-emotional health. I look forward to working with our students, athletes, parents, and fans to make BEA Activities a quality experience for all. Go Bucs!

Elementary phy ed teacher, assistant football coach, head gymnastics coach, assistant boys’ track coach, Activities Director, Dean of Students. These are some of the roles BEA Activities Director Rob Norman has invested his dedication, hard work, and devotion to over the last 32 years at Blue Earth Area Schools.
When being awarded the Lions Club Fan of the Year award, Football Coach Randy Kuechenmeister said of Rob, "For over 30 years, Rob Norman has been a cheerleader of student-athletes and coaches alike, supporting with uplifting words, giving positive feedback or enthusiastically cheering when it is needed. From State championships to middle school events, he has been there because he is passionate about giving the students of BEA a rewarding experience. He has had an active role in our activities and has done a lot behind the scenes to help them be successful.” (Source: Faribault County Register)
Congratulations to you, Mr. Norman, on your retirement; you have earned it!

We seem to have run out of school year Sundays for our Staff Spotlight! So today we shine the spotlight on our Community Education Department!
Community Ed is the umbrella that covers our Early Childhood program (Discovery Place Preschool and ECFE), Adult Basic Education, child care (Little Giants, Jumpstart, and Be A Kid), the Youth Development program (Peer Helpers, DARE, and more), and our adult and youth enrichment classes. They provide quality programs to learners of all ages and abilities, and expand the involvement of community members who have skills and knowledge to share.
Thank you to our Community Ed staff for your hard work and dedication to our community!

We seem to have run out of school year Sundays for our Staff Spotlight!
So today we shine the spotlight on our Director of Curriculum and Instruction!
Important duties of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction include creating the instructional goals, methods, materials, and the assessments.
Curriculum specialists need to explain teaching strategies, changes to curriculum design, and the reasons for those changes, so teachers feel invested. They also need to offer constructive feedback. This requires excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive working relationships.
Thank you, Ms. Schmidt, for your hard work and dedication to our students!

We seem to have run out of school year Sundays for our Staff Spotlight!
So today we shine our spotlight on our Title 1 teachers!
Title 1 teachers provide support and tailor education programs to help our students meet academic standards at their grade level. They understand the specific circumstances of each of our individual student’s struggles and works with them to inspire, instill confidence, and increase their self-motivation.
We thank them for their hard work and dedication to our students!

We seem to have run out of school year Sundays for our Staff Spotlight!
So today we shine the spotlight on our hardworking technology department! From assistance with computers, iPads, and Smartboards to their expertise in websites, passwords, and social media, we would be lost without their knowledge and help. So much of our daily routine has a technology element to it, we don't even know the extent to which our tech department contributes to make our days run as smoothly as possible.
Thank you for ALL you do!

A standing ovation for our 2023 EDDY Award winner, Betty Goraczkowski! The EDDY Award goes to a non-certified staff member at BEA Schools, nominated and voted for by all staff.
Here is an excerpt from Betty's glowing nomination:
"Betty always goes above and beyond to help people out whenever there is a need. She works hard and shows pride in what she has done. Betty has dedicated herself to Blue Earth Area Schools- initially as a paraprofessional and then moving on to being a member of the custodial team at the high school. Betty does not hesitate to support the school first by making sure the areas she is designated are clean, but quickly assists with other areas when her custodial teammates are absent...She offers her services when she hears of teacher needs. She comes in early and stays late whenever needed - taking on responsibilities to make events happen."
Congrats, Betty; you deserve this award!

Frankie says "Farewell for now, fellow Buccaneers!"
Happy last day of school, and enjoy your summer!

Middle School questions we never knew we wanted the answer to:
How many middle schoolers would run half a mile for some ice cream?!?
We answered that question yesterday during the Buccaneer 600 Fun Run yesterday, and the answer is--quite a few!
What do middle schoolers wear on their feet to run half a mile for some ice cream?
The answer is some wear tennis shoes, of course, and others wear crocks, sandals, or their stocking-feet!
